I created a new directory and tried downloading into it. I got a message that the rotwcreatures.hak was downloaded successfully, but can't be verified. It said I should contact the system administrator at trregister@chunkychode.com.

Currently, I am also getting a timeout trying to connect to Gamespy (some content might be unavailable). Not that I think that has any bearing on this issue, but I figured more complete information is better.

Ok, give it a try now. if that doesn't work, you'll have to manually download and decompress teh file and we'll take it up with tech support on the forums.

Okay, I am still getting the message about the download failing and it wants to retry. I manually downloaded the file from the ftp server and put the decompressed file in my .hak folder. When I attempt to log on with that file present, the download still attempts to get rotwcreatures.hak and fails. It does erase the ftp version of the file at some point in the process (I think when it tries to unzip and verify the downloaded file).
I am fairly certain that my nwn2 installation is okay because I can download files for other PWs successfully using the new 1.23 method. I have successfully retrieved and played on The Depths using the new download mechanism. I'll try a third world tomorrow.

Ok, I believe this latest change has fixed the problem. I'm downloading now to test the fix. Give it a go Belder.

Hmm, before this latest update of rotwcreatures.hak I was able to log in fine (post-1.23). Now with the new version of rotwcreatures, it tries to download, I see it go to 100% but fail and attempt to redownload. I'm on attempt 3...

It shouldn't be a problem any more, but here we are. Can you try deleting your local version of that file and re-downloading?

I think I figured out what the problem was. I had it failing every time last night so I downloaded the lzma off the FTP directly and tried to open it. The version of 7-zip I had was far enough out of date (4.57 I think) that it wasn't able to open the new version. It's possible the auto-updater is also using a newer version/format.
As soon as I upgraded to the current 7-zip (4.65) the problem completely went away and everything worked great. I'd suggest getting the new 7-zip, clearing out the files, and trying again.

I am not sure, Kaedrin. I was using the latest version of 7-zip (64 bit version) when I put the ftp file in my hak directory yesterday. When I attempted to logon, NWN2 would attempt to download rotwcreature.hak anyway. After it downloaded the zip, it would fail the verify and would erase the hak I had pulled from the ftp (I suspect it overwrote it with the download and erased that when it failed the verify). I have not had a chance to retry since Lou's latest update, but I am cautiously optimistic based on galaxiid's post.
