auto-looter ftw
I think there are lots of reasons to do lots of things and lots of opinion about if they should be done and how if at all. This thread has falling into the pit like most do.

To prevent further misunderstandings I'll try to suppress my genetic inclination to be a smartass, and be very plain. I started with the presumption that a necessary part of the dialectic process is conflicting opinions; since my opinions conflict nicely with yours, I thought that was a given. Now that its become necessary to Google NTB to find out who I'm actually dealing with, I see you're inclined to reflexively dismiss opposing viewpoints as inferior, in generally unflattering terms. Sorry, I should have done my homework first and kept my opinions to myself. But, since we're already here... What a pile of bullnuts. Right now, the server is such that you get collection quests and loot corpse to gather resources on a volunteer basis. That is a fact that directly contradicts your wish. Simple mechanical quests that do not advance any storyline are 'arcadey'; that is my opinion and is not subject to being defined by you as bullnuts or otherwise. www.sundials.org/about/humpty.htmI'm not sure how you justify claiming my ignorance to my own statement and then further claiming I was insincere about it? ...unless you had some other meaning for disingenuous? dictionary.reference.com/dic?q=disingenuous&search=search ah, a classic rhetorical device... www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/straw-man.html Your inference is incorrect; I was both mocking you and arguing my own position. =============== Excellent suggestions, every one. I must observe that they are all expanding the server in a type of play it does not currently serve, and the fact they have to be suggested confirms it is not currently that type of server. Now that I've done some homework, I'll happily meet you on the fields of rhetoric common to your political interests. Don't expect me to roll over and play dead at your convenience. I've still got faith in the dialectic process, and expect you will do your duty to expose weak points in my arguments, as I will to yours Thusly, a public discussion may arrive at the truth of the matter, and the public may evaluate the fruits of our labors.

What about an auto-gold looter with a penalty similar to the fast quest starting penalty then? Nice, I like it!

How about a contraption that converts corpses to gold before the corpses rise up as undead? I can see a dungeon run by a necromancer who has a cult that wants immortality so they fight without fear of death for eternity. Piss off the boss, no undeath for you. Do as the boss says and he'll take care of your corpse.
So, corpses don't just go away but an undead takes their place.
EDIT: Sort of like a Midas Touch patterned on the Spirit Eater? Hmm, there might be a rogue angle here.

obregon, you missed the entire point. You're arguing in meaningless terms. The server being RP or Action is a meaningless and useless distinction. Lou has expressed fifty billion times that he has a story and would like to see it advanced and wants plenty of action and power builds and to shore up weaknesses in base classes. So this RP vs. Action stuff you keep coughing up is bullnuts.
Obviously, everybody is arguing their wishes. So mentioning that I am doing so is more bullnuts.
Resource starvation/management is obviously one of the themes Lou is interested in. Maybe if you can align your wishes with that you can get what you want.

Lou is obviously into the ladies!
Pretty sure claiming that you know what someone is thinking is stepping over that line. See that line right there on the floor your past?
Your idea is so stupid and without merit that I feel the need to tell you!
Im pretty sure thats bullnutz to NTB. Again with stating what should be obvious to everyone and wouldnt have to be said if it truly was.

*Sigh*, twinkers, they will never learn. But, I sometimes forget that it takes The President to notice: 1) The Mayor jacking your toon for his 50 coppers, first thing that happens to your toon. 2) Starting off with padded armor, -2 damage cracked club, and light shield, all borrowed. 3) The >1k GP half plate in the armorers store front. 4) The ~2k GP full plate mold and ~1k GP Tower Shield mold at The Collector's. Only way to get those items before Orc Horde Battle Field or The Barrens are available for random drops, or Arcane Store. 5) Etc.
P.S. MMT, your avatar sucks. It wants a password.

Do boss 'chests' really need to be made more attractive? Whenever upgrading gear, they're basically the only thing I bothered farming for a long time. Nope, not the current ones as they stand. But I thought we were discussing changes? Don't see why some bosses can't have gear, and some can't have money. Not like the gear here is that diverse anyhow. You can nab much of the same exact gear from a few bosses. On the other hand, no reason why it has to be a boss either. It can be a quest to clear out the zone so those speed bumps you refer to hold meaning. Whatever the deal, I feel something should be done concerning the corpse decay considering bodies tend to decay before you are done fighting their buddies that also joined in on the fight. Even something as small as increasing the time it takes to decay would help heaps. But overall I still don't see it as much of an issue anyhow once you hit a certain level. PLENTY of ways to make money here...at the epic levels I hardly ever see anyone looting corpses. The real issue is money aquisition for newbies/non-twinkers. If Lou's aim is money pacing it really takes a dive at the epic levels, and I still say we need a major epic money sink. Something like a raise dead wand that anyone can use and it costs 5k with like 10 charges or so would be an awesome money sink and very useful. Heck I'd buy one for seige, webb, RB, uriel, and any other bastage that gets me killed often.

this money sink you speak of is already in the game. Craft any wand or potion and then you have your money sink. Ive dumped well over 200K into wands when I was playing heavy. Its gets tiresome.

Buy heal potions in epic. Epic is the one place where you can run out of money. The monsters quit dropping cash and start doing damage. If you bought some heals, you might not need so many rezzes .

While both of those are some sort of sink, they aren't that major. The consequence of the character builds being limited to cleric/gish/mage sorts for the most part here means that I have way more money that I need wands for....and way more money than I need heal potions for. If your character has to rely THAT heavily on wands or potions you should shelve that character
