Is there anyway you can add a power as a reward with the next quest you add that allows players to teleport between binding stones?

As in part of the conversation with a binding stone is a list of all other binding stones and you chose which one to go too (like moongate type thing?)?

That would work. What i was originally thinking was some sort of feat similar to Recall, CoH, and Town Portal. In the end however, do whatever is easiest for you.
Afraid I don't know the moongate reference.
I also think its worth mentioning that this idea originally came up in conversation between Beldar, Dordon, Wetshoes, Ghostguest, and myself. So if anyone else wants to put in their input....

Are you talking about porting to between stones or to a specific stone from anywhere? Really? you're not familiar with the Ultima series?

I've heard of Ultima but its peak was a while before i discovered non console related games.
I really just want a quick and easy way from the Barrens to say Lands Edge without needing someone to COH. Porting from one stone to another sounds perfect to me.

I have had this idea for a while, we should definitely be able to teleport to any binding stone we have come in contact with from that point forward.

Just to give you an idea of what wettshoes and I were talking about, the PW we previously played on had as custome feats, the ability to teleport to the bind stone of there choice. The first level of the feat allowed only the Druid itself to port. The second level of the feat allowed for a mass porting as long as they were in the Druids party and with in a set distance of them. And yes, this feat was restriced to the Druid class. Wettshoes can probly give ya better details of it, since i never had a Druid, but he did. This is just an example of what can be done, so if you got different ideas of how it should or could be implimented, go for it!!!

Basically this other server Ghost and I played on in the past gave druids access to custom spells, which on activation of the memorized spell, could port the PC (or port the entire party) to various locations. But something that allows all types of classes to take advantage of a porting ability to a a number of specific areas would be great.

Yeah, they were originally going to be druid/wizard spells but I gave them to everyone so far (gate, recall and call of hero)
I'll see what I can do, but honestly I think I'm just going to wait until SoZ comes out and then add an ability to go to the overland map which should reduce the overall travel time to anywhere.

Oh yeah, overland map...
Still teleport might be fun. There is something satisfying about the flash of light.

The original EQ was the worst... You had to beg a ride from a wizard or spend 30 minutes on a boat. And even wizards could only teleport between special circles. I think the balance we have already is pretty good. There are abilities that let you quickly group up with other players, and abilities that can reduce some of the tedium involved in getting back out of a long dungeon. But if you extend that too much, I think you lose the sense of scale of the world. I like the world map mechanic because it balances those concerns nicely. Even without the 'interactive' world map from SoZ, the OC style world map is effective. I've played on some other PWs that have custom world maps that you can use to navigate between the major areas. Sundren in particular is a nice example of this. Of course, given that we're only about a month away, I'd much rather have the interactive version

you know... if a wizard had a spell that could teleport you could use the normal world map to select locations.... and then a spirit power that lets you go more specific on the overland map? or the other way around? Just an idea.

i thought i would necro this thread. Has anything happened with this?
I was going to suggest something similar. it would work like this:
you would have another option under the shard that allowed you to pick from any obelisk you have already bound to before. You could accomplish this via db or local int (i do not know how many bind points you have, but if i is just a few, every time someone bound to obelisk, it would set a local int that identified that obelisk. this function would check for these local ints and if they exist, it would be an option to choose from)
so you are presented a choice to bind to any obelisk in your list, then all your other functions work as normal, i.e. you just change the binding point.
I hope i explained that clearly.
I had someone lead me to the eastern barrens and i set to that binding point, so now when an orc priest slays me with death magic (happens alot ), i respawn to the obelisk there and hopefully get my rest and buffing off before every orc that had perceived me comes trucking over the hill to attack me again... and i do not know how to get back out of the barrens... i know such a noob...
anyways, this would allow me to set my binding point back to the chode place or even the starting village and then i can recall or respawn there... or i can set it to that point so the next time i respawn, i am in chode ville and then i can use this feature to select the east barrens obelisk and then recall to that map.

Yes, I'm still mulling it over. I've been silent lately on plans because I'm cooking up something extra special. It's one of those 100 hours building for 1 hour play type deals that this server is missing. I'm going to wrap that up, get some of the new loot dropping and then start on project completion. Somewhere along the way I'll be introducing new stone powers as well as some special balancing items.
