In the general forum I talked about the history of the server. here I want to talk about the lore and, possibly, give it a bit of tweaking
I'd always wanted to do introduce the PW server via a SP module, but I just don't have the patience to build that kind of module.
Here's the deal with CoR, LDoA and RoTW, the spirit stone and everything.
CoR stands for Convergance of Realms. The idea is that there are multiple worlds/universes each a reflection of the other. Every person exists in every realm, but each life is different based on different choices and personalities. They may also be any race or any gender.
eons ago a powerful warlord who had congquered his verson of the realms discovered the secret of the multiverse and learned that if you destroy your alter-ego in another refelction the power is distrubuted among the rest (this concept is not new, it's an old story that's found a place in books and movies).
So he set about destroying all his alter-egos. This was aided by the fact that when you enter another version of the realms than your own you are, essentially, immortal. Your "spirit" is stored in the shard which is virtually indestructable and, as long as it exists, your physical body will be preserved.
This warlord has already killed off all/most of his alter-egos and has been conquering realm after realm, bringing death and destruction in his wake. He has grown beyond even the ability of the gods to control.
But there is hope. It was foretold of one that could defeat the Conquerer and a society (secret of course) was formed to seek out that one and bring them to *this* realm where they could be protected and nurtured into they grew into a power unto themselves. It is here that the last stand will take. for, in their own ream they can be killed, but not here.
Our original CoR PW (in NWN1) actually started you at the portal that brought you to this realm. No memory of who you were or what you did (effect of the portal) and through progress you learned of what had happened to you.
When building the NWN2 PW I wanted to start you out someplace a little more interesting than floating through abyss toward a portal and since I wanted to let people decide their own history I left the lore out of it.
However, each of you are not native to the realm. It may be that you were brought here as an infant so have lived here your whole life, but all of you have been through the portal (and thus have a spirit stone (it was originall called "spirit shard" but NWN2 killed that with their "silver shard" stuck in chest hokiness .
Not only that, you're all reflections of the same person.
So you see, regardless of your alignment you are all destined to "save" your respective worlds because it will fall to all of you to defeat "the great evil"
There we have it, the original Lore of the world. The question is: should we keep it or make it something different/better?
