I have seen several people have been asking about an alignment shifter. I myself was recently thinking about this the other day. I like how when you kill the villagers you can become evil, but what if you want to become good, lawful, or chaotic? I have come up with an idea for good.
What if there is a beggar in the village of Land's Edge who asks for money, then we can type in a numerical value. Maybe for every 100 gold it can shift our alignment 1 point or so toward good.
Doing the chode hole elimination quest where we have to destroy 10 chode holes on the plains of grinding should gain us 10 lawful points. Or maybe in general destroying 1 chode hole on the plains can equal 1 lawful point.
For chaotic maybe there could be a side quest involving a farmer or something along those lines. Maybe the person can release his animals all over the field once he got done putting them back in shifting the alignment 5 chaotic points.
Please everyone, let me know what you think, and try not to be silly.

No sillyness? No wonder your Karma is sinking. I vote yes for alignment change, but, I have no details on a proposed system and I hate most of the builds that would result from this.

yeah Im kind of worried about the bard/paladin as they both rely heavily on charisma and give bonuses to allies. you know... warlock/paladin/eldritch spirit? yeah that could be pretty cool

If an alignment shifter is going to be added I for one would prefer it to be tied to the spirit shard than having to hunt something down and kill it repeatedly. I mean, its not like we have a ton of people role playing their alignments here anyways.

I agree that virtually no one is playing there alignment at least all of the time. I worry about some of the builds that you get with an easy alignment shifter (Blackguard - Palidans should be rare; Aribeth not withstanding). Mostly I worry because it expands the scope of the character optimization calcs I like to perform . I also like to think that I could roleplay my character should the desire cross my mind. If I have to devise an elaborate backstory (ala Aribeth) to explain my alignment shift (because I can't help optimizing), then I guess that is tolerable (Hmm, "I was lawful until I spent some time as a chicken. When I saw how the "good law abiding" citizens wanted to make KFC out of me, I became chaotic evil.") I guess I am pro-shifter, but not strongly. I worry that hardcore PvPers might find our world a little too accomodating (but then some of us have a pretty good headstart on them).

On a somewhat topical note, is there any consequence for negative karma? I would hate to see Slit banned just because he thought rust monsters might be fun.
If there is no negative consequence, then I would suggest just going with it Slit. In fact if you are willing, I would be willing to PM you with some of my dumb ideas so that you can post them and get the negative karma.
Seems like your negative karma is kind of ill deserved- you have created a number of entertaining threads. I'd give you positive karma, but I don't want to mess up your vibe... (again, I would be willing to give positive karma if negative has adverse consequences).
I wonder how much negative karma I will attract for enjoying your rust monster and epic fail threads. Am I meta-commenting now? I better stop.

I don't see why I would recieve negative karma either. Someone on the board has it out for me. :-p If you want go ahead and PM me your ideas, I will gladly post them. The negative Karma doesn't effect me, just makes me curious as to who has it out for me and why.

I wouldn't say somebody has it out for you, slit518, nor would I say they don't. I don't even know why you bother mentioning it.
When I first started on this server, I asked Lou for an alignment shifter. He said it was on his list. At that time I wanted to play my OC/MotB toon, a DwD/Bard/RDD/Fighter. But, I have since found other good toons to play and I could swap sorc for bard and it wouldn't change the build much. So, the alignment shifter is not such a priority to me anymore, but, I have some idea of alignment shifted builds that I'm not sure I like so much, like wlk/bg/pal/fs. 3x cha bonus to saves + EDM + DivShld + clc spells seems to be a bit much for what Lou is trying to achieve. The worst part is that you then find everybody playing the same three builds while scores of them are unplayable. That's the real problem to always avoid, the narrowing of the number of ways you can play the game.

The fact that villagers make you evil is part of the engine, not something I did. they're not really supposed to be killable and I tinkered with the idea of making them plot, but you guys just seemed to have way too much fun killing them.
Alignment shifting is not something I would make happen as a result of action (It is my belief that the good/evilness of a thing and even chaotic/lawfulness has more to do with motive than the actiosn themselves). It would just be a function of the spirit stone.
Personally I don't care so much if someone wants to build a paladin/blackguard/bard/rdd (or whatever cheesiness you can squeeze out of it), but you guys have to play with them so I'll let you decide. (I'll put up a poll)
As for Karma, it's just a function that came with the boards, I'm not even sure what it's supposed to do, but I throw an exalt in now and again (I think I even smote once).
No one is getting banned for low Karma.

I guess your comment caught my eye because it was isolated from an OT post instead of back channel talk, so to speak.
