After some playtesting it was determined that 3x XP made leveling too fast and the may sap some of the joy. I've put it at 2x and we'll see how it plays out.

Yeah, 2x is much better. 3x was definitely too high. 2x may be too high still, but not sure yet. I'll let you know... after I hit lvl 30. lol I gained a couple levels yesterday, but played a lot. Leveled to 15 and 16. Was finally able to play in the East Barrens without dying. Was still getting 180 xp per kill, I think, at around lvl 15. With about 40 to 41 AC I think I had/have.

2x felt right at lower levels (1=5), but he other night I was get way mad XP (went from level 7 to 12 in a couple of hours) but that might have been a function of the character I was playing. Honestly its the most effective non-mage I've built on this server (it's the one that had more offhand attacks at level 9 than main hand) and twinked to the gills.
I have a level 9-10 archer build that doesn't flow as easily. I'm going to pull him out and see how the XP flows with that character before I decide.
A couple of things I want to do: 1) Apply whatever multiplier we use to quest XP as well and trim down some of the quest requirements (10 chode holes for 50 or 100 xp is too little for too much. 2) Maybe curve the xp gain so that it's trimmed at higher levels.

Sounds good. I really want to see the xp increase on quests - especially the Battlefield. It's such great fun to do the battlefield fights but was almost not even worth it before the xp increase. Meaning, I could level faster by killing the mobs at Upper Outpost instead of doing the Battlefield fights, even before the xp increase.
And, btw the chode hole quest says collect ore nuggets, in the journal.

Testing the leveling a bit.
* Took a lvl 1 Drow/gish build, slightly twinked. Mostly used Rod of Frost (with 22 dex / +6) and took the 1-3 orc quests and stood in the forest, tabbing and using the rod. Took about an hour to hit lvl 2.
* Same strategy; to lvl 3 = 20 minutes.
* Move to lvl 2 / Underforest 1. Weapon Finesse and Bez Fang Rapier: to lvl 4 = 30 minutes.
* Still in Underforest 1. About 30 more minutes to lvl (to) 5.

Tab-Rodding is a super effective at level 1-3 even before the xp boost. Given that the time would have been ~double had there been no xp boost. How do you feel about it? 2.5 hours to level 5 seems pretty fast but 5 hours to level 5 on a drow seems fast as well. (and maybe a lot less fun. I grinded a couple of ECL2 characters back in the day and I don't fancy it again

It's probably not too fast, at least for the early levels - thinking of new players here, who wouldn't even be twinked and probably not have such a streamlined, powerful build. Then there's the ECL, of course.
Probably too fast for later levels though, I bet. Still not totally decided.
Of course so much depends on play style, skill, build, etc.
