Being that I have not played this in about 8+ years, I forgot so much about the game and the server. So, I have scoured the forums, through all of the threads to remind myself of the things I forgot. I thought I might just consolidate some of that here for any others who may have questions about it.
Fast Start
You can rest in the Fast Start Trial area by clicking on the bindstone.
Spirit Shard/OOC Tools/Rod of Fast Buffing/Save Widget, etc.
The Spirit Shard can be used to obtain an Extended Rod of Fast Buffing: Activate Spirit Shard/OOC Tools/Summon Tools/Rod of Fast Buffing
Use the spirit shard and there is a save option as well as going into the summon tools menu and summoning the save widget which is what I use.

My best advice is to, at the very least read the New Player's Guide"
The server description has good info in it as well, but is a longer read and isn't really necessary.
And of course a presence on the boards helps.

If you have a character that is level 10 or higher you can "register" your account for the fast start
Fast Start is primarily designed for veteran players who have played through the early content so many times that going through it again is just a grind.
To use it, register your account with a level 10 or higher. Then, when you create a new character, do *not* talk to the councilman, instead head to the back room in the first area and talk to the "Herald of Change". He gives you the option to go to the "Halls of Trial" (note, you *must* do this at the very start, the herald does not exist outside of new character generation)
The Halls of Trial are a series of halls with "borrowed" version of most armor/weapons and populated with the early mobs that you can either grind through or you can simply go and fight the "challenge golem" for that level. Defeating the challenge golem will instantly gain you the next level (which you must achieve before you can go to the next hall). There are 6 halls in all allowing your character to exit the hall at level 7, bypassing most of the early content.
ECL characters are also set to level 7 but are given debt in the amount of extra XP they were given.
You can chooose to leave the halls at any time and resume normal progression.
In the halls the binding obelisks also operate as an instant rest source.

1) Once you have a character as level 10 you can use that to register your account as "fast-startable". Once you've done that instead of talking to the councilman in the beginning you can go into the back room and talk the herald of change. When you do you go through a very quick series of dungeons and come out level 7.
2) No, no limit and the number of characters in your account causes no problems
3) There is a redo last level that can be done once per level but full relevel can only be done once. If there is a technical problem such as taking the wrong feat you can ask the DM for a manual relevel
4) I honestly don't recall. At a certain point you get the "celestial merchant" feat which allows you access to a fully stocked store anywhere and anytime (once per real hour).

The marauding demon - anti-afk-grinding demon.
The rampaging demon(s) should despawn when it's target is dead or zoned.
There are 2 demons. One for chode hole camping and one for general camping, neither of which should spawn in the time-span of getting a beer unless you were getting one at a bar
The demons are not hostile to any players except for the person it's intended for and should despawn immediately upon death and/or the player leaving the zone. (or it's defeated).
The demons do not spawn if you are not killing other mobs.
Look, I'm generally pretty lax on stuff like this but we had people literally AFKing overnight between a couple of chode holes or in the upper outpost. People can get still get around the anti-camping measures but it will require them to be nominally more involved.
“That's what I love about this server...

Any other server and the server rules would just be updated to say "AFK camping is against the rules, do it and we ban you". Instead, Lou codes up a frickin' demon to come kick your ass. How cool is that?”
The lvl 5-7 Orc quest gives zalantar wood, the best to make shields (+2 shields). The middle orc quest gives duskwood to make +6 mighty bows. The Kobold quests give a chance at an air or earth essence for crafting a +1 enhancement onto weapons and armor, and the Goblin 5-7 gives mithral ore that's needed to make the best armor. and there are different materials for the different levels that can be useful too. (If you want a mithral fullplate you have to do the goblin quest 3 times, for instance)
This is one server where you really need to plan builds ahead of time and get your feats/level progression/skill choices/class choices outlined beforehand. From what I've read, generally you want AC in the mid to high 60's, AB in the mid to high 50's, and as much non-elemental melee damage as possible since epic mobs have elemental resists. I have a spreadsheet full of builds with level spread, starting stats, BAB, caster level, and AC/AB/damage calculations after buffing & expected magic items/runes.
most importantly . . . AC is king so you are going to want to maximize that no matter what the build

You can change the element of the dmg rune by activating it on itself.
Also, when you put an elemental damage rune on your weapon you can get an elemental visual effect. If you have two elemental runes, only the first one applied will show.
I used a fire rune on a darksteel weapon and got no visual effect.

If you've never played online, perhaps you mean you don't know how to send tells or use the different chats, etc. I assume?
I know when I first started online someone was sending me a tell and I was steady talking to them in local chat (but they were on the other side of the server) and eventually they wanted to know why I wouldn't respond, lol.
Anyhow, if so, you can shout by typing /s then your message.
You can send messages that only your party members can read by typing /p first. I guess there are buttons on the chat window for all of this, but I never use them. Remember that your chat stays, so if you just sent a message in the local channel, you will continue typing in that channel until you change to another, which causes you to say embarrassing things in shout, lol.
Also note that anyone in a party can invite others and you may be unaware of how many people are in a party that you just joined, or if anyone new has joined without your knowledge. (So, don't join a party and start shouting, "Man, that Wettshoes guy is such a noob punk!" , he may be in the party with you.) (For the record, Wett is not a noob. Though I do think he's a punk )
To send tells you can click on the eye button, bottom-left and then click player chat. Then simply click on the player's name that you want to send a private message to and type your message.
The bosses that drop good loot spawn on a timer (48 minutes, is it?) So when you have several players that want to farm a certain boss you have to be considerate of others. It's a good idea to remember the time that you killed the boss too so that you and/or others waiting will know when the can go for him. (I don't keep up with this good enough either, look, i'm not even sure how long between spawns, lol)
As Loudent mentioned, there are some places in the world that are 'instanced' and only one player or one group is allowed in at the same time. The main ones being the 3rd level of the Abandoned Mines, 3rd level of the Kobold Cave (forgot the name ha) and the 3rd level of the Forest, where the chiefs are located. These areas only allow one player/group of players in at a time, so don't go afk in there.
It's good to check the player list ("P" key) to see if anyone is in a area that you've just entered. For one thing, to make sure that you don't just walk in and start killing stuff when they were already there farming/grinding. I'm guilty of this if I don't hear anyone there, cause I forget to check when I enter. This can be bad when combined with the instanced area, such as an example where a group of us (3) were resting and buffing at the door of the level 3 Mines preparing to enter and take out the Chief for our quest. As we took a step forward, to enter the door, another player runs into the room, right past all 3 of us and into the lvl 3 door, locking us out. Instead we invited the player to our group and have him exit so that all 4 of us can go in, together. That's how it's done.
Have fun!
