when I log onto this server. It kind of sucks to have to waste a rest to get my spells for a play session.
So why?

Resting is not a limited action - there is no "waste" of use.
It means players can't abuse the game by logging in and out to regain/refresh spells and abilities, say for example in an area or location which they would ordinarily be unable to rest.

Maybe he means waste an arcane rest. I have on occasion logged on in the east barrens and found myself under attack from a barrens jackal. This is particularly inconvenient for my pure mage types because they aren't too good at melee.

The 1.23 patch has a function that keeps track of these things. It really helps when you have forgotten to rest before logging off, since the character logs on with the same load out as he had when he left. worrying about people doing stuff to cheat only makes them look harder for the exploits you forgot to address or don't know about. players who do thins to get over will do them anyway. Making artificial stop gap measures that disrupts the play of those who don't cheat just makes the rest of us look for friendlier places to play. ~tlantl

Oddly enough I find my cleric keeps her domain spells (but no others) when I log in and did under 1.22.
