Sometime recently it just became impossible. The lag is bad enough. But, those archers never miss and their perception range is nearly the entire field. It's not even possible to hang back with your own archers and pick off their melee. And, the opposition outnumbers the defenders. Talking about Orcs.
The kobold sorcerers are impossible too.

It has been like this for some time. I used to be able to do it with casters, but the lag gets so bad often the only result I see from spells is the number of spells available decrementing. Right now, I think the only useful builds for the field are archers and even then you have to be careful to avoid the 10 minute bigby's (slow helpless death). Still Pharynn recently powered a build all the way to 30 in there: ldoamb.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tavern&action=display&thread=1013&page=4Looks like an archer though.

Managed it the other day with my cleric/monk/sacred fist at around level 14. Really tough though and had to keep running away to heal myself up and coming back to the fight. Lag wasn't bad either but I was alone on the server.

It gets worse as you get to higher levels. The opponents get more spells. When the kobold sorcerors hit you with Bigby's, it is pretty much game over. Need to have spell resistance and keep spell mantles active. I have better luck with spells like wail of the banshee than I do with spells like acid fog, storm of vengeance, or wall of fire. Those spells have long lasting visual effects that really seem to increase the lag. Kind of sad because the long lasting AoE spells should (used to) be pretty effective for impairing the opposition.
