So I was thinking about the memory leak (speculative but likely source) causing frame rate erosion in large areas like the east barrens... Has anyone tried enabling the large address aware switch on NWN2? I know that I have on occasion seen memory leaks that resulted from the system being unable to allocate the memory it needs to free memory it is done with.
I was thinking about trying this hack and retesting, but I didn't want to go through the effort if someone had already tried it. Also, I don't even know if NWN2 will still run after it has been modified since the file checksum will change which often results in a DRM rejection.
For those who don't know what I am talking about, don't worry about it. Basically, the idea is to change the executable file so that it can use more than 2 gigabytes of memory using a compiler tool called editbin.exe with the flag /largeaddressaware.
So has anyone tried this? Am I a lunatic for wanting to?
