Rescue would make you a very popular friend. I just wonder if the damage reductions all stack.

opens up some intersting ideas.
Start with Paladin instead of fighter. If you can get level 2 spells you have access to shield other.
Or fit in NW9 somewhere in there.
Perhaps something like Cleric/Warpriest/DWD/NW9. A little less HP, but earlier access to protection abilities and some buffs to help out. Much to think about

Check out the following spells for Paladins (I swear no one believes I've accurately buffed them a LOT ). Sacred means it stacks. Shield of Warding The touched shield or buckler grants its wielder a +1 sacred bonus to Armor Class and on Reflex saves, +1 per five caster levels (maximum +5 at 20th level). The bonus applies only when the shield is worn or carried normally (but not, for instance, if it is slung over the shoulder). Duration: 1 minute/level. Righteous Fury Summoning the power of your deity, you charge yourself with positive energy. This gives you 5 temporary hit points per caster level (maximum 50) and a +4 sacred bonus to Strength. These temporary hit points last for up to 1 hour. Duration: 1 minute/level. Silverbeard Your beard grows and turns to pure and magically hardened silver, providing you with a +2 sacred bonus to AC. If you do not have a beard, you grow one for the duration of this spell (even if you are a creature that cannot normally grow a beard, such as an elf or a female human). You also gain a +2 Diplomacy bonus. Duration: 1 minute/level Undead Bane Weapon You give a weapon the undead bane special ability in addition to any other properties it has. Against undead, your weapon's enhancement bonus is 2 higher than normal, and it deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against undead. The spell has no effect if cast upon a weapon that already has the undead bane special ability. Duration: 1 hour/level. Righteous Glory Summoning the power of your deity, you wrap yourself with a divine glow. This gives you a +4 sacred bonus to Charisma. Duration: 1 minute/level. Go for a Str/Con build focused on defense instead of trying to pump damage. You should never die. Ever.

Rescue - Last I heard, rescue's DR doesn't stack with DwD or barb DR. That's assuming it even works. When I checked a while back, it was the broken and worthless physical damage *resistance* variety. Paladin - I think people do read your pally stuff, but we've also seen your revised pally so we really have no reason to waste time playing the gimped version

I have a paladin - his buffs are always wearing off. Maybe they'll be better if I level him up some. Another problem I have with him is his wisdom - he is a smiter so his stats are concentrated in strength and charisma. In order to get enough wisdom to do stuff with the spells he has to give up his +5 natural AC ammy. Generally, not worth the trade-off.

Agreed, too many stat points to spread around on the Pali.

OK paladin base isn't going to work, but I got to thinking about that cleric shield other spell... and the FM damage immunities, natural AC and other perks...
how does this seem:
there's 3 less DR, 1 less dodge AC, no combat expertise, and less HP, BUT greater flexibility, more feats, early access to shield other effect (via cleric spell), can cast SR, AC spells, greater restoration and other heals, better natural AC and immunities to crits etc STR is much lower but cleric can self buff and pride domain gives greater heroism
Shield Dwarf Lawful Neutral
STR: 14 (->18) DEX: 14 CON: 18 (->25) INT: 12 WIS: 14 (->16) CHA: 6
Skills: lore 13, survival 8, dodge 10
1- Fighter, feat: luck of heroes, bonus feat: dodge 2- Cleric, domains: war & pride (bonus feats: weapon focus warmace and epic resilience) 3- Cleric, feat: toughness 4- Cleric, ability point: CON 5- Cleric, 6- Cleric, feat: alertness 7- Cleric, 8- Cleric, ability point: CON 9- Fighter, feat:monkey grip, bonus feat: power attack 10- DwD, Dodge AC+1 11- DwD, bonus feat: uncanny dodge 12- DwD, ability point: CON, feat: extend spell 13- DwD, Dodge AC+1 14- FM 15- FM, feat: holy warrior, forest hammer I 16- FM, natural AC +3, ability point: CON 17- FM, +2 STR, bonus feat: knockdown 18- FM, natural AC +2, feat: persistent spell 19- FM, forest hammer II 20- FM, natural AC +2, oakheart, ability point: CON 21- FM, feat: DR I 22- FM, forest hammer III 23- FM, +2 CON, +2 STR, fast healing I, 50% DI piercing, feat: DR II 24- DwD, ability point: WIS? 25- DwD, DR/3, bonus feat: improved uncanny dodge, feat: fast healing I 26- Fighter 27- Fighter, bonus feat: DR III, feat: fast healing II 28- Fighter, ability point: WIS? 29- Fighter, bonus feat: epic toughness, feat: rescue 30- DwD, Dodge AC+1
oh, and I tested the DR stacking - DR from adamantium armour, the feat based DR, and DR from rescue do not stack - so DR 12 wld be the max here

Ok here's the build we were discussing in game and how I worked it out...I haven't run it through Vorden's yet though to make sure I didn't miss something.
5 bard, 10 Can Lyr, 5 Cleric FM 10
Earth Gensai
STR: 14 18 (24) DEX: 8 10 CON: 19 18 (25) WIS: 17 13 (this is ok because you can use Wis Amulet +6) INT: 8 10 (this may need altering for skill requirements I'll let you know after Vordens) CHA: 6 6 (this ok because you can use Charisma cloak +8)
Lvl 01: Cleric(1): LoH Domains: Water and War (Warmace) Lvl 02: Bard(1): Lvl 03: Bard(2): Toughness Lvl 04: Cleric(2): Con+1, (Con=19) Lvl 05: Bard(3): Lvl 06: Cleric(3):Power Attack, Lvl 07: Bard(4): Lvl 08: Cleric(4): Con+1, (Con=20) Lvl 09: Bard(5): Alertness Lvl 10: Cleric(5): Lvl 11: Can Lyrist (1) *Don't forget Survivial 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!* Lvl 12: FM (1): Extend Spell Con +1 (Con=21) Lvl 13: FM (2): Lvl 14: FM(3): Lvl 15: FM (4): Holy Warrior Lvl 16: FM (5): Con+1, (Con=22) Lvl 17: FM(6): Lvl 18: FM (7):prac spellcaster:Cleric Lvl 19: FM (8) Lvl 20: FM(9): Con+1, (Con=23) Lvl 21: FM(10): Feat (Con=25) Lvl 22: Can Lyrist (2) Lvl 23: Can lyrist (3): Fast Healing 2 Lvl 24: Can lyrist (4): Str +1 Lvl 25: Can lyrist (5): feat Lvl 26: Can lyrist (6) Lvl 27: Can lyrist (7): feat Lvl 28: Can lyrist (8): Str +1 Lvl 29: Can lyrist (9): feat Lvl 30: Can lyrist (10)

It looks good... tho feats may be a little tight. Would you take the DR feats at epic levels? if you make this one I'd love to know how it plays The other thing I had thought of was a more bard based build that used the epic bard songs - the reqiuem ones. Use them to deal damage, heal party members, along with the DR and fast healing feats to tank, add in the rescue feat, then pump CHA and CON. Probably add RDD for the STR and stats but otherwise focus on CON and CHA.. not sure if its viable tho. So maybe Bard and/or bard song PRC for 20, and RDD 10?

What are the DR feats called? Not familiar with them...they from the game or K's expansion? Left quite a few blank with just "feat" for personal customization. General idea was something that could take abuse and keep going strong. Regen would be especially powerful on this build due to the high Con...the songs would help flexibility for whatever is required (defense, regen, whatever), and the FM would help round it out with some decent damage capibilities. Cleric caster level of 27 (with prac spellcaster) to get through dispells...and level two bard spells will give a few casts of mirror image. Oh and sorry about all the numbers for stats. The first ones were from another race and I forgot to erase them. But yeah gonna run this guy through Vordens tomorrow or next week and start him up on Tues or so next week. Should be fun, we'll see

Ok yeah it'll work with Earth Gensai given these stats:
STR: 18 (24) DEX: 10 CON: 18 (25) WIS: 13 INT: 10 CHA: 6
But I changed level 8 and 9 for reason explained below:
Lvl 01: Cleric(1): LoH Domains: Water and War (Warmace) Lvl 02: Bard(1): Lvl 03: Bard(2): Toughness Lvl 04: Cleric(2): DEX+1, (Con=19) Lvl 05: Bard(3): Lvl 06: Cleric(3):Power Attack, Lvl 07: Bard(4): Lvl 08: Cleric(4): DEX+1, (Con=20) Lvl 09: Cleric(5): Alertness Lvl 10: Bard(5): Leave two skill points for next level!!!!! (put bard as last class to take before can lyrist so you can put the 13th point of perform you need for Can Lyrist in. Also as noted you need to leave two skill points left over to have enough) Lvl 11: Can Lyrist (1) Survivial 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lvl 12: FM (1): Extend Spell Con +1 (Con=21)
