noob question here but valid as i seem to need a to build a "gish" what is a Gish? I looked around on the google and found nothing but billy coragan albums I edited this post as it was a whine that i dont wish to put into words anyone who saw it please ignore it. Gish is the fighter/mage. In some ways, one could say that the Cleric is a gish since it can cast spells, wear armor and have decent BAB. thank you, its been hard to find info like that. there should be a PWwiki. NWN2wiki is a fail for everything but the most basic info.

The thing is a high level mage needs a fighter like a fish needs a bicycle. He needed him (sort of) when they were low-level, but at high levels the mage lets him come along out of sympathy. The high level melee build is just kind of a sad remnant with no future.
On high magic worlds, most people have TWF builds because the path to the most damage is multiplying the number of instances of the high damage weapons. You can play a gish and people do (they are not at a huge disadvantage), but they tend to do somewhat less damage than a dedicated twf. Most of the high level pure caster build on one of the high magic worlds I play on are crafters. Another world has zones in which the opponents are so tough that they must be handled by teams. On that world (also high magic), there are a variety of builds.
I don't profess to know what is best, but I do like being able to play a rogue and get him to 30.

Hmm, what if an area spawned what your toon could not handle? Then the fighter would protect the mage and the mage would protect the fighter.
